New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association Statement on House of Representatives Vote on Marijuana Legalization

The New York Medical Cannabis Association (NYMCIA) is excited and encouraged that the House will be voting on a comprehensive cannabis legalization bill in the coming weeks. This historic vote to remove federal barriers to patient access, expunge records, and create funding for grants for those most negatively impacted by the ill-conceived War on Drugs is an important first step toward addressing the kind of widespread reform supported by the majority of Americans. 

The Association commends House Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler, Senator Kamala Harris and their colleagues for taking up this vote and stands ready to work with advocates, legislators, and regulators to continue supporting this measure and serving New York’s medical cannabis patients.
