Statement by New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association on the Death of George Floyd

The inequities within the cannabis industry are a reflection of the war on drugs and the result of 400 years of institutionalized racism, the same injustices that are protested around the country this week. The New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association cannot right all the wrongs of the past, but we can work to support cannabis and social justice reforms that correct the impact of systemic injustice in our industry and in the communities we serve. This will not bring back the lives of those we’ve lost at the hands of an unjust system, but we can always work towards a better, just future.
