NYMCIA STATEMENT ON THE CANNABIS CONTROL BOARD’S NOVEMBER 17 MEETING

"We applaud the Office of Cannabis Management and Cannabis Control Board for the significant steps taken today to enhance patient access to safe and regulated medical products in New York. For years, patients have advocated for changes to improve access and equity in a medical program that has long been regarded as one of the most restrictive in the nation. It is crucial to ensure that these patients are not overlooked as the state progresses with the development of the adult-use program. 

Today’s actions— including the establishment of the Medical Cannabis Ambassador Program and Medical Cannabis Advisory Council, and the approval of medical license renewals— demonstrate the state’s commitment to improving medical cannabis accessibility, minimizing disruption to patient care, and supporting practitioners."
