Nymcia Statement On The Historic Launch Of New York State’s First Justice-Involved Adult-Use Dispensary

New York, January 24, 2023 – New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association congratulates Roland Conner and his family on the historic opening of the first justice-involved dispensary license and the state’s second legal adult-use dispensary. New York has embarked on an exciting transition to an equity-centered legal cannabis industry. NYMCIA will continue to support those most harmed by prohibition - including Mr. Conner – who are entering the legal market. We are advocating for policies that protect the success of this new market and licensees like Mr. Conner. This includes effective civil enforcement of the pervasive illicit and unregulated pop-up smoke shops that put consumers in danger and rob the state of revenue to support communities disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs.
