Statement from Adam Goers, President of New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association
“Marijuana policy is a very complex issue and Governor Cuomo is taking the right approach in leading a collaborative, regional approach on cannabis. The 2020 legislative session is right around the corner, and this type of meaningful dialogue among state leaders is going to result in better policy and a safer, more robust industry at the end of the day.”
“We’ve consistently said that a 50-state patchwork approach isn’t good for patients, workers, or the license holders. Countless New Yorkers are currently crossing state-lines to purchase cannabis for medicinal and recreational purposes. That’s a concern from criminal justice, medical, and economic perspectives.”
“We want to thank Governor Cuomo, and the Governors of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut for their commitment to and participation. As always, we stand ready to work closely with advocates, labor, and regulators to make 2020 an historic year and continue New York’s leadership role in cannabis.”
